Saturday January 21, 2012 is the second anniversary of the disastrous Citizens United v. FEC ruling, which gave corporations the right to spend unlimited amounts of money to influence elections. That ruling by the Supreme Court’s right-wing majority opens the floodgates for massive, undisclosed corporate spending like we saw in 2010, and in attacks on workers’ rights last year in Wisconsin and Ohio. It empowers Super PACs and other front groups to spend millions to flood the airwaves with attack ads like we saw this month in Iowa.
Our movement is to Get Corporate Money OUT of Our Elections by amending the
Constitution to overturn the Citizens United decision and the court’s Money Equals
Speech line of decisions.
We are a San Francisco organization allied with Public Citizen, Move to Amend, Common Cause and other national groups to educate about the dangers of corporate money influence in elections and build a groundswell of public support for amending the Constitution to reverse the Citizens United and Money Equals Speech decisions. Hundreds of public events will take place nationwide on the Citizens United anniversary, Saturday January 21, 2012. Join us!
